David D. Diamond's BiographyI was born at NAS Lemoore, CA
in 1964 and since my dad was in the Navy, I lived in
numerous states and towns until I was old
enough to join the Navy (and get sent around myself). Upon finishing college in 1986, I
was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy via
the NROTC program and
stashed at COMINEWARCOM in Charleston, SC and then MAG-31 Beaufort, SC. In February 1987,
I reported to NAS Pensacola, FL
for Flight Training. I completed primary flight training (fixed wing) with VT-2 at NAS Whiting Field, and advanced
flight training (rotary wing) with HT-18 at NAS Whiting Field. Upon earning my "wings
of gold", I was designated a Naval Aviator on September 30, 1988, I reported to
HSL-30 Det Alfa and later HSL-34 in Norfolk,
VA, where I learned to fly the Kaman SH-2F Seasprite helicopter, LAMPS MKI
(LAMPS stands for Light Airborne Multi Purpose System). I specialized in ASW (Anti-
Submarine Warfare) ASST (Anti Ship Surveillance and Targeting) and Minehunting. My last
job in the Active Duty Navy was Helicopter
Flight Instructor at NAS Whiting Field in Milton, FL. (HT-18) (flying the Bell TH-57 SeaRanger )
