COMDESRON THIRTY SIX

    Destroyer Squadron THIRTY-SIX was a deploying staff which was oriented toward the development and evaluation of tactics in all warfare areas and the operational training and employment of assigned units at sea.  It was known as the "Top of the Line" squadron because at the time of inception it was the highest numbered Destroyer Squadron.  I was the last Air Operations Officer and Command Historian for CDS-36 when it was disestablished in March, 1994.  This is the only thing that remains of the command.
